MID CAN MINUTES
Thursday, September 27th, 2001
Executive Members Present: Dianne Boulay, Rod Marcyniuk,, Rod Clifton, Charlene Zaidan, Marilyn Armstrong, Leah Barnlund, Francie Palmer
Regrets:, Brian Russell, Roy Smith
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M.
Minutes were not available for reading.
Francie had sent a letter to Janice Grift about the fees and asking who she could escalate our concerns to. Dianne read the letter out load and a short discussion followed. If Janice does not respond then Francie will call Walt McKee.
Rod reported that we currently have 19 paid members and he estimates that we will end up with 39 members. More than 50% are paying for the three swims. Most swimmers are paying the lump sum and not the installments. The closing bank balance is approximately $3200.00. The bank deposit was reinvested as a floating cashable for $5200.00 at 2.5% interest.
Dianne offered to try to redo the brochure and will put Francieís name on it. May not be able to put all the payment options on it.
Leah made a motion to lower the age restriction from 18 to 16 (within the swim year). Charlene seconded it. We had a discussion which resulted in Charlene amending the motion to read "Swimmers who are 17 by December 31th of the current swim year will be allowed to join and pay the student fee if they show a valid student card."
The vote was 6 for and 1 abstained.
Annual General Meeting:
The annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 27th. Dianne will do a presentation on Sunrider. Rod will speak with Brian and ask him to schedule a time for the person to come and do a talk on shoulder injuries.
The Pop Sidwell meet will take place on Saturday, November 24th. We can have the pool for the warmup starting at 3:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. Francie will speak to Ian Park at St. Johnís and ask about getting a meal for $13.00 each. We will charge $20.00 a ticket.
Monday Night Swim:
Discussed the possibility of Manitoba Masters sharing the cost of Monday swim but we did not think we would be able to get any lanes. Since Manitoba Masters is bursting over with members, Leah is going to ask them if they would consider sending any swimmers our way.
Charlene will have the catalogue available so people can choose their suits. Since Charlene is expecting her baby soon we will need to find a new equipment manager for a period of time.
Dianne will have the newsletter out before the annual meeting. The following should appear in the newsletter:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
