Volunteer Program:

At our Annual General Meeting in September, 2000 it was voted to establish a volunteer fee program to encourage members to assist in the volunteer opportunities within the club. Here is how it works. All members will give our Treasurer, Rod Marcyniuk a cheque for $50.00 postdated for June 30th, 2002. This cheque is due by Tuesday, December 15th. Students will only be required to pay $10.00 per session for a total of $30.00. You will have lots of opportunities throughout the year to work off the fee. (Example: Say a $50.00 cheque was given and the swimmer put in 5 hours of volunteering - the cheque would be destroyed. If the swimmer put in 3 hours, the cheque would be cashed and a refund would be issued.). Here are some of the volunteer opportunities: (1 hour = $10.00)

  1. Volunteer at Pop Sidwell Swim Meet (timer, help setup food, help at banquet, etc.)
  2. Get Door Prize or donation for Silent Auction at Pop Sidwell
  3. Volunteer to help with Provincial Meet in April
  4. Be a lane Leader
  5. Be on the Executive (you will then be exempt)
  6. Time at an Age Group meet
  7. Volunteer to help at the Pentathlon meet
  8. Offer your home for the Progressive Supper
  9. Help with arrangements for the Progressive Supper

Lane Leaders:

So what is a lane leader? A lane leader is a representative from each swim lane (1-6). The responsibilities of the lane leader would be to act as a liaison between the other swimmers in your lane and the executive to disseminate information. As lane leader you would be asked to coach any new members to your lane on all aspects of the MidCan swim club. This would include introduction to the treasurer for fee information, the equipment manager, pool etiquette and social activities. You would also be required to call people in your lane if the pool closed on short notice.
