Mid Can Masters AGM

10:30 am

1) Finance, Rod

 Report on last year,

-there were 57 members in total last year

 14 3x a week

 22 2x a wee

 14 drop in

 7 students

 -our deficits ran $ 2102,

This was due to a decision not to raise fees last year, a short fall in the revenues generated. A profit of $350 was made from Pop Sidwell, and there pool fees and coaching fees were less than predicted due to pool closures and there was not an increase in pool rental fees.

-currently we have about $7200, in the clubs name to pay for our up coming year. Of this money, ~$1675 is in our bank account and ~$5530 is in our GIC. So the club still has money, however further deficits will hurt us.

-Swim options have changed this year. We no longer have the drop in  rate, instead  there is a once a week swim option.

 -current membership is 34 members

 14 3x a week

 13 2x a week

 5 2x a week

 2 students are 2x a week

2) Roy

The club would like to recognize that Rod is stepping down from the post of treasurer, and thank him for all his years of work. Thanks to Rod.

3) Pop Sidwell update, Mickey

This is a fundraising event for our team. The meets is back at U of M as Steinbach increased their prizes and the banquette was too expensive there. Everything is on the web including forms.  Copies of Entry forms are available if you do not have access to the web site.

Orange info sheet, Mickey is in need of timers, judges, result typist, and door prizes for the silent action draw (prizes can be given to Francie).

Entries are due November the 10th. There is a $10 late fee (as a result of our team become notorious for taking too long).

There will be no intermission this year, due to time constraints.

The Banquet will be held at the University Club, as they have offered the best price, which allows the club to keep the banquet ticket price at $20.

4) Election of executive committee members

Two positions are needed.

The proposed nominees are:

  • Treasurer, Colleen Metge,
  • Equipment manager, Greg Giesbretech.

This is accepted by the membership.

5) Web Site, Rod & Bob

The site is up and running. Thanks to Kathleen and David Reid we have web space on Epic. We also have a registered name for our address, http://www.midcanmasters.ca

6) Lane Etiquette, Wenda

Lane etiquette is available on our team web site. Wenda has done a little research and has found that our “etiquette” is much the same as other  teams across Canada. New members will receive a small hand out, when they sign up. The club asks that team members remember to communicate and teach each other lane etiquette.

7) Registrar, Roy

The club has decided to have a registrar as well, so that the treasurer is not the only person collecting money. Shannon Adam, will act as the team registrar and  collect money and membership forms, and she will pass  them on to Colleen.

8) T-shirts, Roy

Bob has started an order for club shirts. Money is due October 19.  They  are navy cotton knit golf shirts, with our club logo embroidered on them.  Cost is $30.Roy Smith has seen these shirts and feels they are good quality and look good. Any questions regarding sizing should be directed to Bob. He would like the money (cash or cheque made out to Mid Can Masters in soon as he is going out of town, and would like to complete the  order before leaving.

9) Worlds in Edmonton

Next year the world Masters will be held in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a huge Masters event for all sports.  It might be interesting if we could get a Manitoba team going. Web info is available at http://www.2005worldmasters.com/  . There is a meeting at Pan Am pool, on Wed October 27, about participating, anyone interested in attending  should be there.

10) Brian

A long time member, Brian, is leaving. The club would like to do something. A card will be sent out, and next Thursday a social event is planned for Boston Pizza... Wenda suggests a team shirt. The membership agrees to send one to him when they arrive.

Meeting adjourned.
