Pool
Maintenance Closure
– Last swim Aug 26th - First Swim Sept 16th
The pool is closing for cleaning and maintenance at the end of the summer. Our
last swim will be August 26th. After the closure, our first swim back will be
on Sept 16th.
During this closure we usually plan some cycling & rollerblade events at
the usual swim times. I’ll e-mail a schedule later.
Annual
General Business Meeting – October 9th
A major agenda item is electing an executive for next
year. If you wish to contribute to the club by being on the executive please
let Rod Clifton or myself know. We will need a new club treasurer. Rod, who has
done a stellar job for 5 years, has indicated a desire to step down. We’ll also
need a Club registrar whose duties will be to collect registration forms and
fees from members and maintain the club membership list.
Pop
Sidwell Masters Swim Meet – Nov 20th.
The Pop Sidwell date has been set. It is returning to the U of M pool.
Kathleen is already organizing a mouth-watering banquet to follow.
Unplanned
Pool Closures –
The summer is upon us (at least its supposed to be).
Once the Mini-University programs begin we can expect some pool closures. These
happen because of “accidents” in the pool. The pool is the super chlorinated
and closed for 24 hours. When the pool closes the Frank Kennedy staff will call
one club executive member who will initiate the phone fan out. The member
of the executive will phone each designated lane leader who will then
phone the rest of the members of their lane. Each lane should elect a lane
leader for this. Each lane leader should identify themselves
to me for this fan out. The executive will try to contact the six
lane leaders first, but if unable they will contact any other lane member to
initiate the fan out. Please keep your new club members lists available for
this.
